Leading the Activity, Engagement & Interpretation Plan for Old Deptford Library…

Kaia Charles is leading the development of the Activity, Engagement & Interpretation (AEI) Plan for Old Deptford Library, working alongside Up Projects and a multidisciplinary team of consultants to shape the future cultural and community offer for this significant historic building.

Commissioned as part of Lewisham Arthouse’s National Lottery Heritage Fund development phase, the plan explores how Old Deptford Library can become a Living Archive — connecting its history and architecture with contemporary creative practice, community knowledge and intergenerational exchange.

The work brings together research, public and stakeholder consultation, curatorial thinking and programme development to establish a long-term framework for activity, interpretation and engagement. The development is ongoing, with the emerging vision continuing to evolve through dialogue with local communities, artists, partners and stakeholders.
